Old Work Electrical Boxes

Sometimes called a remodel box or toggle box. An old work electrical box can be inserted into an opening in the wall. The traditional toggle box attaches directly to the wall covering. The traditional screw on box attaches directly to a stud if available. Our SmarToggle box is designed to attach to either a wall covering or a stud or both. An old work box is the only way to add a box to an existing wall without tearing out a significant portion of the wall.


SMARTOGGLE BENEFITS: 

  1. 1. They have a pilot guide pin used for determining the center of the box on the wall. An extremely useful feature when matching existing switch and outlet boxes.

  2. 2. They have 2 means for mounting the box, toggles or 1 interior mounting screw. More options for mounting the box.

  3. 3. The ST1 aka the 1gang box has 1 set each of #6/32 and 8/32 threaded holes for device and light fixture support. It is the only box of its kind that offers both features.

    Why 2 ways of mounting?

    Several reasons for multiple mounting, the sheet rock is in poor condition, location on a stud is not possible, maybe larger gang boxes need more support. Flexibility is key to this product.


    Does it save on labor?

    It’s a time saver hence labor saver for sure with single screw mounting. It’s quicker and easier to install than any other screw on box in the market today.


    Is it made of PVC or PC?

    It’s manufactured from unbreakable LEXAN PC which is a much stronger and harder material than PVC. It becomes obvious to the installer specifically in the ST3 and ST4 once installed, there is no sagging of the box!
